Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit anandinaustralia.com ("this site"), run by Anand Vaghasiya from Adelaide, South Australia. I've tried to write it like a human, not a lawyer.
01. The short version
I don't ask you to create an account, I don't collect your name or email unless you choose to send me one, and I don't sell anyone's data. The site counts visits and uses a few third-party services (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Google Fonts, and advertising) that set their own cookies.
02. Cookies this site sets itself
- Visitor counter cookie — a small marker so the counter in the footer doesn't count you again every time you refresh. It expires after 12 hours and contains no personal information.
- Article view cookies — the same idea for individual articles, so the "most read" list reflects readers rather than refreshes. Also 12 hours, also anonymous.
- Consent preference — if you accept or decline the cookie notice, your choice is stored in your own browser so you aren't asked again. It never leaves your device.
None of these identify you personally. The counts stored on the server are plain numbers, not profiles.
03. Embedded content from other sites
Pages here embed videos and feeds from YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. When one of those loads, the provider can see that your browser requested it and may set its own cookies, exactly as if you had visited their website. The site also loads typefaces from Google Fonts. These services have their own privacy policies, which govern what they do with that information — I have no access to it and no control over it.
04. Advertising
This site intends to display advertising through Google AdSense. When ads are enabled, the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Third-party ad networks may also place cookies of their own; this policy does not cover their practices.
Readers in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent choice before personalised advertising cookies are used.
05. If you contact me
If you email me or send a message on social media, I'll have whatever you chose to put in that message. I use it to reply to you and nothing else — no mailing lists, no passing it on.
06. Server logs
Like practically every website, the hosting provider records standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting. These are handled by the host and retained on their normal schedule.
07. Children
This site is written for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect information from them.
08. Your choices
You can decline non-essential cookies using the notice on the site, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and use the advertising opt-outs linked above. Declining won't lock you out of anything — every article stays readable.
09. Changes
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
